And, I hadn't done anything with it. But, last night I decided to sit down with it and I actually really like it! It's a pretty simple card and it doesn't take a lot of supplies which is great.

Stampsets: Carte Postale, French Flair BG, Weathered BG, Print Pattern BG
Ink: River Rock, Elegant Eggplant
Cardstock: River Rock (5 1/2 x 8 1/4), Elegant Eggplant (1 1/2 x 1 1/2), Whisper White (1 1/2 x 1 1/2) - cut it down after you stamp itAshley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-35370206364569621942007-11-18T13:12:00.000-06:002007-12-16T21:14:54.050-06:00"She left 5 minutes ago"So yesterday I was supposed to go with my mom to meet the lady that owns the coffee shop who wants to sell my cards. But, my mom had asked 2 of her friends to go along with my little sister. Long story short we had to wait for everyone and when we got there the lady at the register said that owner had left 5 MINUTES AGO! I was so disappointed and it was hard to not be upset. But, I am going to call and see if I could come meet her on Wednesday before I head out of town for Thanksgiving. I really want this. I want to sell my cards. I want to have my own business. This is a starting point and I can't give up.Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-56757849583429945922007-11-17T11:18:00.000-06:002007-12-16T21:15:25.411-06:00Too Long....OK, so it's now been officially over a month since I've stamped! I'm going through withdrawal! But, I'm being pulled back in... first SU sends me a really cute stamp set called Time Well Spent. Then my mom texted me yesterday to say she was talking to someone that owned a coffee shop and they are interested in selling my cards! OMG! That's what I want to do! I want to sell my cards! But, it's also very scary all at the same time. What if they see my cards and don't like them?? I don't even know how to sell my cards!

I've started dieting. I want to lose weight. And, feel better about my body. So far I've lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks. I have so much more energy! It's great! And, I've gived up soda and I think that that has helped a lot. I've come to notice that the hardest thing is not eating when I get home from work. I think that it's because I'm an emotional eater. But I recognize this and I'm going to fix it.

On that note today is day 1 for exercising. I'm doing the Firm. It's synergy training meaning cardio/aerobics with light weights. It's supposed to speed up the process with life long effects. Yesterday I was at a conference for work and one of the classes was dealing with stress. Exercising is supposed to help. So, maybe it will be killing 2 birds with 1 stone. If I'm less stressed I wont want to eat more. Plus working out increases your metabolism and gives you energy. Yay! I'm actually excited to work out! After I work out I'm going to go meet with the coffee shop lady. Eeeek! I'm nervous! I'll write more about how it goes later!

Wish me luck!Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-20127985079364377882007-10-12T18:40:00.001-05:002008-12-11T20:52:51.178-06:00Grateful Autumn Harvest CardHere is my first attempt at the Stained Glass Window Technique. I knew my package with my backorder stamp sets was scheduled to arrive today so I was so excited. I checked the front door about every half hour. He didn't even come before I left for work at 2:15 p.m. I was so bummed. But, I called home and found out that it did end up coming sometime after I left. So in 5 minutes when I get off I'm off to go get my new stamps! Yay! I ordered Stem Silhouettes and Carte Postale and they were both backorded. I can't wait to create with them! I'm outta here in 4 minutes (yes, I'm at work again)!

Happy Stamping Everyone!!Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-61616399178699681552007-10-11T23:15:00.000-05:002007-12-16T21:16:58.868-06:00The Stained Glass TechniqueI saw this new technique (at least new for me) in the November Stampin' Success:

To create the stained glass look you take a piece of vellum cardstock to the size you need. Take the stamped image you want to use (use a line art stamp - something you can color in) and stamp it on the vellum, use StazOn or Craft inks. Next, flip the vellum over and fill in the image with color using Watercolor Wonder Crayons. Strong, vibrant colors are the best since they are more visible on the reverse side. Use an Aqua Painter or Blender Pen to blend the colors of the image. Then just mount the vellum (colored side down) on to a piece of Whisper White card stock using Mini Glue Dots. Then, adere the image and background to your project using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Sounds Simple! I am looking forward to trying it! I think I'll try it tomorrow! Hopefully, I'll find the time!Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-18983352297923648552007-10-11T23:03:00.000-05:002007-12-16T21:18:00.332-06:00Tips Of The Trade: Planning Your DesignI read this in the November Stampin' Success:

Like puzzle pieces coming together, elements of your design can fit perfectly to make your creation uniquely you.

START by asking yourself what message, emotion, or tone you want to evoke with your creation. If it motivates you, challenge yourself to fine exactly the right elements - stamp sets, accents, and colors.

FOCUS by choosing your stamped image and then coordinating it with supporting images, background patterns, your greeting (if you have one), accents, Designer Series pager, etc.

CHOOSE colors to compliment your focal image. Your color choices can complement or detract from your art. Typicaly, fewer colors work best. Three colors plus one neutrol color is optimum.

LAY OUT your design before you glue anything down. This eliminates card stock anxiety.

WORK for balance in your art. Look at your planned layout. Where does your eye rest? Are all the elements balanced? You don't need to fill your entire page or card front.

TAKE TIME to stamp.

"WHEN IN DOUBT, USE OLD OLIVE!" Have a favorite color combination to turn to when you're stumped.

I thought that these were some really neat tips! I just wanted to share them with you!Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-51442207181971429932007-10-11T12:28:00.000-05:002008-12-11T20:52:52.077-06:00True Friend, Thank UI really like this card! I hope everyone else does too! I wish it was a better picture. I used stampin' write markers to stamp the flower. The "band" that seperates the certainly celery and the ruby red I like to call "Faux Ribbon" I think that's something I made up though! I really like the True Friend set from the Holiday Mini. I'm so excited about all the different things I'll be able to create with it!

Stamps: True Friend
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Markers: Certainly Celery, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Whisper White (2" x 3"); Certainly Celery (5 1/4" x 4"); Ruby Red (2" x 5 1/4"), (5 1/4" x 1/4); Chocolate Chip (5 1/2" x 3/4"), (5 1/2" x 8 1/2), (2 1/4" x 3 1/4")
Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-26997868765464896602007-10-10T21:18:00.000-05:002008-12-11T20:52:52.468-06:00Spooky Skyline #2Last year I went to my upline's upline's stamp class and we did a card Very similar to this and when I got the Spooky Skyline Jumbo Roller I had to try it. I don't know if you can tell or not but I used the Reverse Poppin' Pastel technique. So, on the black cardstock I took a cotton ball and slid chalk across it horizontally. Then, you ink the roller with versamark and it takes the color off! It's like magic! So cool! I wish I would have put a little bit more chalk on it, but next time I will!

Stamps: Spooky Skyline Jumbo, Web Wishes, Sanded BG
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Versamark
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie (8 1/2" x 5 1/2"), Wild Wasabi (2 1/2" x 5 1/2"), Basic Black (2 1/4" x 5 1/2")
Stampin' Pastels: Green Galore, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1484584064642140379.post-46711085425250690992007-10-10T20:54:00.000-05:002008-12-11T20:52:52.621-06:00Spooky Skyline #1I saw a card similar to this in the October Stampin' Success and put my own spin on it. But the one set that just screamed BUY ME in it was the Autumn Harvest stamp set. So, since I got the set yesterday I HAD to make a card today with it! Bare with me though, because I'm not the best watercolorer yet. But, give me time!
Stamps: Autumn Harvest, Holidays & Wishes
Cardstock: River Rock (11" x 4 1/4"; 1/2" x 5 1/2"), Wild Wasabi (5 1/4 x 4), Really Rust (2 x 5), scraps of whisper white for the pumpkins
Ink: Chocolate Chip (for the greeting, leaf/acorn background, stem on pumpkins), Basic Black (Pumpkins), Pumpkin Pie (to watercolor pumpkins), Really Rust marker (to accent on pumpkins)
I hope you like! Well, I want most of my posts to have to do with my creations. But this one wont, because I'm at work and I don't have anything to upload here. Oops, did I just admit that I was blogging at work? Ignore that tidbit of information and read on!

Mr Brown Truck himself pulled up to my house today (UPS)! I finally got my order. It always feels like it takes forever to get my order... probably because I'm impatient and I want things RIGHT NOW!

I finally got the Priceless Stamp Set. Oh! Have I mentioned that I usually only stamp with Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted?!?! Well, now I have! Anyways, I'm excited about this set and the Autumn Harvest set. Autumn Harvest is so my taste! Because I'm more of the country type of taste, but as I'm sure you'll see I like all kinds of stuff! My goal is to go home and stamp tonight... but, I'm getting awfully tired... it's 10:44pm and I don't get off until 11:30pm. Maybe when I get home I'll get a boost of energy! I hope so! I got some new BG stamps! Yay! Time to create! Now, if I could just get off of work already!

Oh! My goal is to make a halloween card for everyone! So, I need to start on that soon too!Ashley Kloosterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13647534269083549630noreply@blogger.com1
